DeKalb County Community Gardens In Waterman

DeKalb County Community Gardens brought their free food truck to Waterman in May 14th!

Thank you to Waterman Lion’s Club for hosting this event!

Together they helped give away food to 96 Waterman community members (25 over 60) from 37 households. The best Grow-Mobile Waterman event ever!

Look for information about the food truck coming again in the next few months!

Babysitting Classes

Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS)


Hinckley Parks & Recreation is very excited to be partnering with Second Chance Cardiac Solutions again for this program!


Are you thinking about starting a career in babysitting? This fun, interactive class teaches babysitting basics and is designed to focus on supervising, caring for and keeping children and infants safe in babysitting settings. Learn fundamental information in the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic care-giving skills and how to respond properly to ill or injured children or infants. This class also includes practice in CPR and relief of choking. All materials provided.

DeKalb County Barn Tour

2019 DeKalb County Barn Tour

The barn tour 2019 will be in Victor Township which is at the mid-point of the southern county line for DeKalb County!

This year the tour is August 10, 2019 from 9am-4pm. Maps will be posted as soon as they are available.

The DeKalb County Barn Tour is a one-day driving tour of barn sites within DeKalb County hosted by the DeKalb Area Agricultural Heritage Association, Inc. and the JF Glidden Homestead & Historical Center. Participants will receive a map and guide book containing hand-drawn sketches of each barn as well as the barn’s history, style and use. For an additional price, five-year anniversary books will be available. Participants drive to each location in any order for a tour of the barn(s). Purchase your event ticket at any of the eight locations. Be aware that this is an outdoor activity that may involve walking on uneven ground.  Admission is $25 per vehicle (buses extra) (museum members receive a $5 discount).

Grow-Mobile

DCCG is bringing the Grow-Mobile to Waterman on May 14th from 4-6pm.
They will be at the Rt. 30 Parking Lot (across from Houlahans)
FREE FOOD!!!

Grant From DCCF & Resource Bank

Village of Waterman Grant

On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, the Village of Waterman received a grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation for economic development. The purpose of the Community Economic Development Grant Program is to provide financial support for economic planning and implement projects that support local economic growth. The Village of Waterman also received a donation from Resource Bank for planning and implementing economic development.  The Village of Waterman thanks both DCCF and Resource Bank.
