The Village of Waterman Village President seeks qualified candidates for the position of Trustee to fill a vacancy until the April 2021 municipal election. It is anticipated that the process to seat the new Trustee will occur no later than the July 9, 2019 Board meeting. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of community volunteerism and activism. Candidates must reside in the Village for at least 1 year prior to appointment and meet the legal requirements to take the Oath of Office.
The Board of Trustees have an active, year-long meeting schedule that includes 1 Tuesday evening meeting per month and participation in meetings that include budget meetings, special meetings and public hearings as needed. Additionally, Trustees are assigned to a minimum of 2 Village committees that meet as needed.
Waterman residents interested in applying for this vacancy may do so by submitting a letter or email to the Village President. The letter/email should include a description of the applicant’s background and experience, a short history of the applicant’s community involvement, a statement explaining why the applicant is interested in serving on the Board, and knowledge, skills and abilities he or she would bring to the citizens and the Board. Are you thinking about starting a career in babysitting? This fun, interactive class teaches babysitting basics and is designed to focus on supervising, caring for and keeping children and infants safe in babysitting settings. Learn fundamental information in the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic care-giving skills and how to respond properly to ill or injured children or infants. This class also includes practice in CPR and relief of choking. All materials provided.

The barn tour 2019 will be in Victor Township which is at the mid-point of the southern county line for DeKalb County!
This year the tour is August 10, 2019 from 9am-4pm. Maps will be posted as soon as they are available.
The DeKalb County Barn Tour is
a one-day driving tour of barn sites within DeKalb County hosted by the DeKalb
Area Agricultural Heritage Association, Inc. and the JF Glidden Homestead &
Historical Center. Participants will receive a map and guide book containing
hand-drawn sketches of each barn as well as the barn’s history, style and
use. For an additional price, five-year anniversary books will be
available. Participants drive to each location in any order for a tour of the
barn(s). Purchase your event ticket at any of the eight locations. Be aware
that this is an outdoor activity that may involve walking on uneven

On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, the Village of Waterman received a grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation for economic development. The purpose of the Community Economic Development Grant Program is to provide financial support for economic planning and implement projects that support local economic growth.
